The FIFA Players Status Committee has on the 17th December, 2021 issued clearance of eligibility to the Sierra Leone Football Association for Steven Roy Caulker, Issa Kallon, and Jonathan Morsay to play for the representative teams of SLFA with immediate effect.

The decision follows requests made by the SLFA for change of association of Caulker and Kallon and seeking clarification on the status of Morsay.

Stevens Caulker the former England International is now eligible to play for Sierra Leone and could be selected for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. The 29-year-old former Tottenham defender was given an Officials clearance on the 17th December 2021 by Football World governing body FIFA to represent West Africa in the Country.

“I can confirm that the player’s status chamber of FIFA has just cleared Caulker to represent Sierra Leone the Country Football Association President Thomas Daddy Brima.”

Nine years ago Caulker won a single cap for England in a (4-2) loss to Sweden in a Friendly match evening weighing in with a good.

His selection by the three Lions came after he had played every single minute’s Great Britain campaign at the 2012 London Olympics and he is eligible to swap allegiance under FIFA regulations and he qualifies to play for Leone Stars through his paternal grandfather who is from Sierra Leone.

In October, Caulker took part in training camp with Sierra Leone and played in an official Friendly match against a Moroccan team home-based.

The Sierra Leone Football added it had been given the green light for the Dutch-born Issa Kallon to swap allegiance to play for Sierra Leone. The 25-year-old forward who plays for Dutch Top-flight side SS Cambuur had represented the Netherlands at every level from under 17 through to under 20 but eligible for Sierra Leone through his parents the duo could make their competitive debuts at the delayed Nations Cup finals in Cameroon if call up by coach John Keister.

Sierra Leone senior National team is set to make their first appearance at the nations Cup since 1996 and will play against Algeria, Ivory Coast, and Equatorial Guinea in group E.

Another player was also told he can represent Sierra Leone without submitting paperwork is Greece-based Midfielder, Sahr Jonathan Morsay. Morsay was born in Sweden and played for Scandinavian in Friendlies at under 19 levels and as such does not need Officials FIFA Approval.
