Mayor Yvonne Aki Sawyerr had the pleasure and privilege of spending time at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Centre for Women and Development, connecting with the former Liberian President herself, H.E. Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, as well as the Amujae Sisters, a group of influential women.
The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for Mayor Aki Sawyerr to catch up with Riva Levinson, a prominent figure in the centre’s network. The visit underscores the strong ties between Freetown’s leadership and the influential women’s empowerment organization founded by the Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
“It was a truly remarkable experience to spend time with Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and the incredible women of the amujae Sisters,” said Mayor Aki Sawyerr. “Their dedication to advancing women’s rights and development in Africa is truly inspiring, and I am honoured to have had the chance to connect with them.”

The Amujae Sisters, a group of influential women affiliated with the centre, play a crucial role in this mission.
