The Mayor Freetown, Madam Yvonne Aki Sawyer is taking a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness and encouraging citizen participation in a new initiative called the “Daily Street Sweep Campaign.”
She started off that the city’s municipal corporation, the Freetown City Council (FCC), has been leading the charge to keep the streets clean, with a recent focus on Kissy Road. This morning, after FCC teams carried out their sweeping operations, the road boasted a visibly improved appearance.
Madam Sawyer stated that the FCC’s ambitious campaign involves sweeping 110 streets across Freetown every morning, aiming to create a cleaner and more pleasant environment for residents and visitors alike.
She also said that the initiative seeks to raise awareness among Freetonians about the importance of responsible waste disposal and the role each individual plays in keeping the city clean.
“We want to emphasize that the garbage doesn’t drop down from the sky onto the streets; it comes from us,” stated the FCC spokesperson. The campaign urges Freetonians to take responsibility for their waste and refrain from littering the streets. By doing so, they can actively contribute to the ongoing effort to transform Freetown into a cleaner, more livable city. She intimidated.

The FCC spokesperson emphasized, “We ask Freetonians to help us keep our city clean. Play your part – don’t drop garbage on the streets!”
