Fourah Bay College Students Union election has been rescheduled for today 11th June 2021, and there is heavy police deployment at the campus for the election to be peaceful.
According to ASP Samuel Saio Conteh, the deputy head of police media the Police are deployed because of what happened the last time during the election when hoodlums and non-students took over the election and disrupt the process.
Mr. Conteh made the disclosure at a conference held on Thursday 10th June 2021, at Police Headquarters at George Street, Freetown.
According to Mr. Conteh this time around they will manned the election to see that the process go peacefully without any problem.
ASP Conteh Deputy Head of Media SLP went on to say that the Police will be friendly with the students that are eligible to vote and have identity voter cards.
He noted that they will also monitor the deployed Police to ascertain if they will act otherwise.
He disclosed that all eligible registered students names will be at the gate, for identification, but if you are not an FBC student, one must not go near the vicinity.
“Police Officers are deployed on the four corners of the campus for those that would like to use escape root” ASP SS Conteh disclosed.
In another development, the newly appointed Director of Crime Services AIG Fayia Sellu, said he has set up a team of personnel at his division to be professional at work. He said, the Police is a good entity that has good officers to handle matters all over the country.
He said, the Judiciary has produced Magistrate and Judges to sit on criminal matters all over, so murder cases, and other serious matters must not be transferred to Freetown as that will bring more expenses and difficulty.
AIG Sellu assured the public that his department will make sure everything work well for the general populace.
