The press release issued by Fourah Bay College (FBC) Students’ Union calling for the postponement of the forthcoming exams has been taken with a pinch of salt as the administration insists that the exams Must on as planned.

The Students’ Union release stated that there have not been effective lecturing and students were not in the right frame of mind to take the exams that was why they called for postponement.

Director of Media, Alumni and International Relations, James Tamba Lebbie said the press release did not represent majority of the students whom he said are well prepared to take the exams as scheduled.  He noted that the reasons for the postponement of the exams advanced by the SU government are baseless and insufficient.

He denied that lectures are going on smoothly without interruption although there might be few exceptions.  challenges or gaps here and there. He said from the onset the number of weeks for the semester was communicated to the students and they are ready to take the exams.

He emphasized that as of Wednesday afternoon, the administration has been adamant that the exams will go on adding that it is possible there would be an update if so, it will be communicated to the students as well as members of the public.

He said the administration is working under significant pressure to restore the academic calendar so that college can open in October which had been the actual time it used to open.

Sources within the University of Sierra Leone indicated that the Students’ Union government at FBC is under pressure from some students who want to buy more time to work on their dissertations.
