Police in Tankoro Division, Kono District have arrested a man accused of going round harassing pupils and invigilators at examination centers within Koidu City in the ongoing West Africa Senior Certificate Examinations WASSCE Calming to be an exam officer in the District a public notice from the Tankoro Police Division media and communication department says.
The impersonator reportedly claimed to be a staff of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and went out of luck at the Ansarul Islamic Girls Secondary school center. The suspect, Mohamed Akim Sonnie, who claimed to be a resident of No. 14 Gassama Street, Calaba Town, Freetown is said to have been moving around with a self-made identification card of WAEC claiming to be a coordinator unfortunately for him.
According to information the impersonator was going round on routine checking when the principal of the Kono Model Academy (KMA) who happens to be the supervisor for the said center, became suspicious and contacted the accredited WAEC Officer in Kono and told him about the unfamiliar staff. The WAEC officer in turn immediately contacted the Police at Tankoro Police Station and told them about the issue, without wasting time the police went to the scene and apprehended the suspect and was taken to the police station for further interrogation.
After several interrogations by the police, the suspect confessed that he was just impersonating. He later told the police that he is not a WAEC Staff; he made the identification card for himself and then travelled to Kono to carry out his motive. He is in Police custody helping them with further investigation.
