Isata Mansaray a Military Personnel on Monday 16th January 2023, testified before Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker of Pademba road Court No.2 in Freetown, how she was beating by a fake Military Personnel Eric Macarthy.
She started by testifying that she lives at Murray town barracks, Freetown, she is Corporal Isata Mansaray attached at the Infantry Brigade, she recognized the accused and recalled on the 6th January 2023, she was at Liverpool Street, around Sierra Leone Commercial Bank.
When he saw the accused Eric Macarthy putting on a military cap and she called the accused and asked him if he is a soldier because he was having a military cap on, the accused said yes he is a soldier, and then she further asked him which Units he belonged to. The accused told her not to ask him. Then she took off the cap on his head and told him she is taken him to the Police. The witness furthered that the accused grabbed her hand and told her he is not going anywhere. The accused then told her he is working with Generals in the Military. Then she puts the cap inside her breast, but the accused forcefully puts his hand inside her breast and took out the military cap, one pa which they normally called Chairman surfaced and told the accused that she is a soldier. But the accused Eric Macarthy told her he is going to show her street life.
The witness furthered that as she was talking to the chairman, the accused then rushed at her and hit her on her head and left eyes also slap her and damaged her left eyes.
The witness went on to say the accused beat her severely and damaged her eyes and she was rescued by the Chairman and the accused was arrested and taken to Central Police Station where she made a statement. The photos was identify as Y. He concluded that the accused is charged on a count of wounding with intent contrary to Section 18 of the offenses against the person Act 1861.
According to the charge sheet Eric Macarthy on Friday 6th January 2023, at Liverpool Street, Freetown, wounded Isata Mansaray with intent to do her grievous bodily harm.
Count 2 states that, the accused on the same date and place assaulted Isata Mansaray in a manner thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.
Meanwhile Magistrate Tucker refused bail and adjourned the matter to the 24th January 2023.
