Magistrate Sahr Kekura has ordered Mohamed Fullah a fake Landlord who was before him for redress to pay a fine of one million Leones or imprisoned at the male correctional center for three months.
The accused was arraigned before him for preliminary hearings on a count charge of obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to section 32(1) of the larceny Act of 1916.
It was stated on the police charge sheet with C/S number 330/2023 that that accused Mohamed Fullah sometimes on August 2023 at Spur loop, Wilberforce with intent to defraud obtained the sum of four thousand new Leones (4,000) form complainant John Matthew Foster by falsely pretending that he has a single room house for rent knowing same to be false.
He pleaded guilty to the charge put before him and asked the Bench to give him time to pay back what was due.
The case file contained detailed report made by complainant, his witnesses, that of the accused person and payment of the receipt issued after negotiation.
Complainant stated to the police during investigation how he contacted the accused at a time he was in dare need of house.
Having heard the plea of the accused and perused the file, magistrate Sahr Kekura sentenced the accused to three months imprisonment or pay a fine of one million Leones.
