On Sunday, March 3rd, 2024, the Ezinwanne Progressive Organisation, also known as “the good brothers,” displayed their benevolence by donating food items worth millions of old Leones to the visually impaired. The donation ceremony took place at the Back of Adnan Supermarket, located on Wilkinson Road, at the west end of Freetown.
Elder Sun Shine, the Acting Chairman of the Ezinwanne Progressive Organisation, highlighted that this act of generosity was part of their ongoing commitment to assisting humanity, particularly those who are less privileged. He emphasized the importance of addressing the needs of vulnerable individuals, especially during challenging economic times.
The donation comprised 12 bags of rice, two rubber five-gallon containers of palm oil, 4 bags of onions, as well as biscuits and lollipops. Elder Sun Shine explained that the decision to donate these items was motivated by the urgent need to alleviate hunger and save lives among the visually impaired community, who are particularly vulnerable due to their physical challenges.
He emphasized that nobody should suffer from hunger, and it’s incumbent upon society to support those in need. Elder Sun Shine reiterated the organization’s commitment to assisting the disabled and other vulnerable groups, emphasizing their belief that disability does not equate to inability.
In response, Victor Josiah, the Executive Director of the Tewor Agriculture Development Organisation of the Blind, expressed profound gratitude to the Ezinwanne Progressive Organisation for their humanitarian gesture. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the visually impaired community, including lack of accommodation, food, and job opportunities, and stated that the donation would significantly improve their lives, especially considering the current inflation in food prices.
Victor Josiah praised the Ezinwanne Progressive Organisation for their compassion and stated that their actions reflected the true essence of serving humanity. He assured that the donated items would be distributed equitably among the beneficiaries, who include over 150 physically challenged individuals, including the blind.
Sao Momoh, one of the beneficiaries, extended heartfelt thanks to the Ezinwanne Progressive Organisation, particularly Elder Sun Shine, for their generosity. He expressed gratitude for the assistance provided and appealed for continued support.
The donation ceremony concluded with prayers, worship, and joyous songs, underscoring the spirit of unity and gratitude that characterized the event.
