Exhibits Officer Testifies in Murder Matter

Police Witness (PW) Detective Constable 1616 Conteh A. who is attached to the Crime Writer Exhibits Office Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarter Freetown has testified before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No.2 at Pademba Road in Freetown on the 8th July, 2021 in a matter involving the accused person Munuru Lebbie for allegedly killing RSLAF 18170594 Jonathan Saidu L/CPLS. The accused persons were charged with three counts charge contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.

According to police charge sheets, the accused person is charge with three counts. It is alleged in count one that the accused person on the 23rd December, 2020 at Massabendu junction Nymiyama Chiefdom Kono in the eastern Region of Sierra Leone was found in possession with shot gun without license or lawful authority.  It is alleged in count two that the accused person on date unknown was found with unlawful concealment of arms contrary to regulation 22 of the Arms and Ammunition of 2014. It is alleged in count three that the accused person on the 23rd December, 2020 at Mokombo Bush Messabendu junction Nymiyama chiefdom in the Eastern Region of Sierra Leone murder RSLAF 18170594 Jonathan Saidu L/CPLS.

Testifying in court, (PW) said some of his duties are to ensure the safe keeping of exhibits relating to cases that has been reported at the CID. Witness said on the 29th December, 2020 he was on duty at the said office when Inspector Makie D.A attached to the homicide unit handed over to him the following items as exhibits in respect to this case. One shot gun with loaded bullets, one old damage shot gun, one slippers with assorted colors, one old head touch light, two cold caps (red and black), an empty shot gun cartridge.

Witness said he was in possession of all items and he registered them with registration number 16812020.

Under cross examination, defense Lawyer C. I. Williams asked the witness apart from the items given to you, you don’t know anything about the case.

Yes my lord. The prosecution has closed their case and the defense counsel has asked the Magistrate to submit no case submission to the prosecution. Inspector A.T. Bangura is prosecution the matter while Lawyer C.I. Williams representing the accused person. The matter has been adjourned to the 15th July, 2021.
