Five ex-military officers Rtd  Captain Sam Milton Bangura, Morlai Bai Shebura, Rtd Major Alimamy O Kamara and two others were on Thursday October 12th 2023 committed to the high court by magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road Court No1 on the grounds that the offences for which they were in court are serious.

The accused persons were arraigned on two counts charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and operating a private security service without valid license.

The particulars of offence for count one state that the accused persons on Wednesday 7th June 2023, at Ferry Terminal Kissy Freetown conspired together with other person’s unknown to commit a crime to wit operating a private security service without license.

It was further alleged on count two that the accused persons on the same date and place were found operating a private security service by the name of Expandable without valid license.

When the charges was read and explained to the accused persons no plea taken

Counsel representing the accused persons Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused persons, pursuant to section 120 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965 that the accused persons has been in prison for more than two months.

He said these accused persons has served the nation for years and they are pleading with the court to accord them that favour by granting them bail.

He said they will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses as Ex-service men they’re men of their words.

In giving his ruling Magistrate Ngegba said the offences are serious therefore both accused persons were remanded matter committed to the high court for trail
