In the interest of justice, Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah has committed former military officer Sallieu Jalloh (52) to the High Court for a speedy trial over allegations of attempting to overthrow the Government of Sierra Leone.

Jalloh appeared before Magistrate Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, charged with treason and misprision of treason.

According to the prosecution, between January 1, 2024, and March 13, 2025, Jalloh conspired with Captain Aiah Aba Senessie, Sergeant Bangura of Waterloo, Retired Sergeant Kamara, and others to procure AK-47 rifles for the purpose of overthrowing the government.

He is further accused of contacting security personnel and civilians to assist in obtaining firearms and ammunition. On March 8, 2024, Jalloh allegedly instructed Sandy Sesay and his men to be on standby for an “imminent power transition.”

The indictment also alleges that from November 26, 2023, to November 26, 2024, Jalloh concealed treasonous acts committed by Captain Senessie and others.

No plea was taken during the hearing.

Prosecutor Yusif Isaac Sesay informed the court that sufficient evidence had been gathered and the prosecution was ready to close its case.

In response, Magistrate Jah ordered Jalloh’s remand at the Male Correctional Center and committed the matter to the High Court for a speedy trial.
