The Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA) on 5th August 2022 lifted the suspension of clubs and officials that were allegedly involved in the Penultimate round of matches in the ongoing Super-Ten League in the Eastern Region.
Their Suspension came following the matches that played in the Super-Ten League between Lumbebu United Football Club, Kahunala Rangers, Gulf Football Club, and Koquima Lebanon Football Club as those matches were reported as (95-0) and (91-1) goals as those results put the country in sports light of match-fixing.
The Press Release from the Eastern Region Football Association stated that the ban on Officials and clubs has been lifted with immediate effect and that the matches are set to play again to get one team that will be joining the other teams to represent the region in the national playoffs. The Eastern Region Football Association Disciplinary Committee state that a detailed report on Public Consumption will be made to the public in due course.
Thomas Daddy Brima the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association said what happen in the Eastern Region Propaganda is to his administration and that the Football Association will come up with a statement on the alleged match-fixing allegation.
The Minister of Sports Ibrahim Nylenkeh said the Ministry of Sports is closing following the outcome of the investigation of the said matches that have put the country’s name in the Sport Light of match-fixing where FIFA and CAF frowned at greatly and they are waiting for the smooth outcome.
The Public is still waiting on the outcome of the investigation of the said match-fixing allegation from the Eastern Region Football Association as the issue of the match-fixing is not good for the development of the games and needs to be discouraged in Football.
