Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has strongly warned residents of Bo to desist from depositing waste in the drainages that will block the free flow of water in the raining season which will lead to flash floods.

The Communication Officer of EPA, Fomba Sherriff told this medium that EPA has the mandate to protect the environment and that they have embarked on a robust sensitization of the protection of the environment.

He said that the putting of dirt into drainages is not good and it is the responsibility of everybody to ensure that the environment is protected and the species therein.

Speaking to A-Z, some residents of Bo lauded the EPA on the steps taken against the depositing of wastes in the drainages or around their community, adding that there should be strong collaboration between Bo City Council and EPA in ensuring that they scale up the awareness into every nook and cranny of the city as this will help in the cleaning of the environment.

Brima Daramy said that the drainages need to be thoroughly cleaned not only for the raining season but always as cleanliness is next to Godliness.

Daramy noted that some part of the city is flooded as a result of the drainages that are blocked and this causes destruction in the communities.

He called on EPA to also ensure that the people stop building in the swamps as this will also block the normal route of the water that will also lead to flooding.

He continued that the government should take action against those blatantly disobeying the law by building in the swamps.

The Information, Education and Communications Officer of the Bo City Council Mr MaC Ivan Kapindi Vandy called on residents of Bo to ensure that they clean their environment.
