A 22-year-old electrician, Nyakeh Toby, has made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on a charge of office breaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, the accused, between Friday, 13 February 2026, and Sunday, 15 March 2026, at Royal Empire Night Club, allegedly broke and entered the office of the Chief Executive Officer with intent to steal.
The prosecution alleged that the defendant stole the sum of twenty-five thousand United States dollars (US$25,000), equivalent to six hundred thousand Leones (Le600,000), along with an additional six hundred and fifteen thousand Leones (Le615,000) in cash. The total value of the stolen amount is estimated at one million, two hundred and fifteen thousand Leones (Le1,215,000), property of Ibrahim Kamara.
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, C.S.P. Tommy B. Zizer Esq., served the defendant with a bundle of witness statements.
Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the male correctional facility in Freetown.
The matter has been adjourned to April 2, 2026, for further hearing.
