Twenty-five-year-old Mohamed Mansaray, an electrician, has been committed to the High Court following allegations of store breaking and larceny. He appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, facing a charge contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act, 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Hill Cut in the Western Area of Freetown, the defendant allegedly broke into the store of Abubakarr Turay with intent to steal and unlawfully removed four bags of cement, each valued at Le 185, amounting to a total of Le 740, property of Mr. Turay.

When the charges were read and explained to the defendant during his first appearance, no plea was taken.

The prosecutor, Detective Police Constable 17649 Brima Kargbo, presented witnesses and closed his case. The file was subsequently withdrawn for ruling.

Delivering his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that, based on the evidence presented, the prosecution had adduced sufficient evidence to warrant committing the matter to the High Court for further trial. The defendant was denied bail and

remanded to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown pending the High Court proceedings.
