Edward Marah, a candidate for the position of Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), has intensified his nationwide campaign with a strategic engagement of media practitioners in Bo City, Southern Sierra Leone.

Held at the SLAJ Southern Regional Office, the interactive session was part of Marah’s ongoing regional tour aimed at engaging grassroots journalists and fostering open dialogue with association members across the country.

Addressing over 30 journalists who attended the meeting, Marah outlined his vision for a more responsive and forward-thinking SLAJ Secretariat. He emphasized the importance of transparent governance, capacity building, and institutional reform, stating that his campaign is anchored in participatory leadership and a commitment to revitalizing the association’s operations.

“We need a Secretariat that listens to its members, acts with integrity, and fulfills its mandate. I am offering a leadership that is accountable, inclusive, and service-oriented,” Marah said.

He also highlighted his extensive experience in journalism and his longstanding contributions to SLAJ and its affiliate bodies. Marah assured journalists of his dedication to restoring confidence in the association’s leadership while promoting a culture of responsiveness and professionalism.

His message was well received by those in attendance, who praised his humility, track record, and commitment to the profession. Many described him as a trustworthy and dedicated journalist capable of delivering the transformation SLAJ needs.
