By: Aruna Kamara (BO)

The Public Relations Officer of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) in the South/East Regions, Mohamed Baskay Sheriff has said that the breaks in the supply of electricity supply are a result of the rehabilitation of the old lines that are still going on in Bo and Kenema

Speaking to A-Z Newspaper, Mr. Sheriff said that “the energy supply to the City of Bo and Kenema is doing well because we have the CLSG light, being supplying light to customers in the South and Eastern regions, and we providing 24-hour service for people, except that it is being punctuated by the break as a result of faulty lines or maintenance problem.”

He however said that Rome was not built in a day and that twenty-four hours of electricity without break will be a thing of the past and disclosed that “we now have very good electricity from Ivory Coast.”

Mr Sheriff called on the residents to be reminded that the Ministry of Energy and EDSA has been talking about the robust transformation in the energy sector, as they are rehabilitation the lines that are old so that they can enjoy uninterrupted electricity in Bo and Kenema.

He noted that before this time there has been a poor energy supply in both districts, but with the coming in of the hard-working Energy Minister under President Bio’s government, they can boost of energy supply to Bo and Kenema and by extension the country as a whole.

Dr. Kanja Sesay he said is a dynamic minister with a focus on making people enjoy a sustainable electricity supply in the country, noting that Kono is sure of hooking on to the CLSG light.

He said that before assuming the mantle of leadership, there was a 13% electricity supply but under the new direction of the government there is about 43% and will very soon get to 50% energy supply across the country.
