The Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) has told this medium that from the commencement of the ongoing Voter registration in Kono District on 3rd September 2022 to the 6th September 2022 at least twenty-nine thousand and twenty-four people have registered.
Kamara made the statement in an interview with our correspondent when conducting an on-the-spot check at the different registration centers to know the challenges and successes of the said ongoing voter registration in the country especially in Kono District.
According to the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone, Kono District Manager Topmost the successes of the ongoing voter registration include: The Training and recruitment of more than five hundred registration staff, registration centers opened and running daily, noting the challenges, they initially had problems with the machines but it is now a thing of the past.
Meanwhile out of an independent investigation mounted by this medium the following are challenges and successes of the ongoing voter registration in Kono District: Lack of electricity to charge the Voter verification kits, low sensitization to locate the different centers, Duplication of registration and under age trying to be registered to name but a few.
On a whole the turnout of the ongoing voter registration according to the independent investigation by this medium is highly encouraging and as a result as of Sunday 11th September 2022 at least forty-eight thousand, one hundred and sixty-eight people have registered in Kono District this is according to the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone Kono District Voter Education and Training Officer David Sahr Queewa.
