Kambia district has received a consignment of 743 doses of Ebola vaccines, A-Z Newspaper has gathered.

Joseph kalokoh the District Operations Officer on expanded immunization confirmed the delivery of the vaccine meant to be administered.

He said the vaccine targets health care workers, security personnel at border crossing points and community members.

Joseph kalokoh further explained that the second doses should have been available before now but other districts were late to send in their analysis of the first doses.

The operations officer for expanded immunization in Kambia said the distribution of the first doses was challenging because many community members were afraid of the vaccine because of the experience they had during the Ebola scourge in the country.

Joseph Kalokoh called on community members to go for the vaccine as it is safe for human being.

He also informed the general Public   that the vaccine which is presently available in Kambia has been tried and tested in more than five countries in Africa and the world.

He concluded by calling on all to respect the health regulations and the vaccine will also help an individual from not contracting the new Marburg virus which is presently in our neighboring country Guinea.
