East End Lions Cruise Pass Kamboi Eagles to Overtake Bhantal

In a dramatic five-goal thriller, the host, East End Lions’ resilience helped them secure a 3-2 win over Kenema’s Kamboi Eagles Football Club

The lethal Musa Noah Kamara opened the scoring on Friday evening at the Approved School Field in Eastern Freetown in the 6th minute to give the Killers an earlier lead.

However, Frank Alusine restored parity in the 43rd minute to produce a 1-1 scoreline at half-time.

Idrissa Kargbo’s 70th-minute own goal put East End Lions in front again; five minutes later, midfielder Alusine Dumbuya extended the lead to 3-1.

Meanwhile, Abubakar Sidibay pulled one back for Kamboi Eagles in the 90+2 additional minute but proved insufficient to rescue a point for the visitors.

Both head coach Jack of Kamboi Eagles and his assistant Kallon saw reds following their second yellow cards.

Goalkeeper Ibrahim Barrie, who made his debut for East End Lions, clinched the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance, including crucial saves against the visitors.

The victory is East End Lions’ second in their last four meetings with Kamboi Eagles, both are recorded in the two spells of Coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara in 2022 and 2025, respectively.

Kamboi Eagles won the previous encounter with a comfortable 2-0 away win at the Trade Centre Field, and the only draw ended goalless at the Kenema Town Field during the 2022/23 league season.

The Killers have leapfrogged Bhantal at the summit of the Leone Rock Premier League log with 32 points out of fifteen matches played.

Bhantal’s first defeat of the season to Abacha City, courtesy of Morlai Dumbuya’s lone goal with a superb free-kick in the 58th minute on Friday at the SLFA Academy in Kingtom now places them in the second position with 30 points in fifteen matches played.

Bhantal will play host to East End Lions on Tuesday for a rescheduled Week 14 match at the Approved School.

East End Lions FC have been impressive since the start of the Sierra Leone Premier League as they have suffered only one defeat in  15 matches.
