Innocent Emmanuel Uduk’s brace led East End Lions FC to a thrilling victory over FC Kallon at the Approved School playing field. The Cavaliers took an early lead through Ishmiel B. Shrieff, but the Killers regrouped and gained momentum.
Uduk headed home Suliman S. Kargbo’s cross to equalize just before halftime, and Idrissa Sesay scored a direct free kick in injury time to give the Lions a 2-1 lead. Uduk scored again in the 54th minute, finishing off Osman Koroma’s cross to extend the lead to 3-1.
FC Kallon fought back, with Alhaji Alie Conteh converting a cross from Ben Deborah in the 84th minute to narrow the gap to 3-2. East End Lions held firm to secure all three points in front of a jubilating crowd.
The win is a significant boost for East End Lions FC, moving them up the league table. FC Kallon, on the other hand, will be disappointed to have conceded late goals. The match showcased the Lions’ resilience and determination, and they will look to build on this momentum in their next fixture.
In the other matches across the different venues, Kamboi Eagles hold Old Edwardians to 0-0 draw
Kamboi Eagles and Old Edwardians FC played out a goalless draw at the SLFA Football Academy. Old Edwardians, led by top scorer James Jusu Kanja, were impressive but couldn’t find the back of the net throughout the 90’ minutes. It was a scrapy bit of action between two equals as either side proved to be on the same length of possession and attempts on goals.
Kamboi Eagles’ goalkeeper Abu Bakarr Bangura made crucial saves to secure a point for his side. The host, Old Edwardians couldn’t keep up with the dominance they had in their previous matches in the first leg of the season. While the visitors, Kamboi Eagles are pulling sleeves to avoid relegation.
The draw sees Kamboi Eagles in 13th place, while Old Edwardians sit fifth, level on points with Bai Bureh Warriors.
Bo Rangers close gap on leaders with 1-0 win over Bhantal FC
Bo Rangers FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bhantal FC at the Southern Arena, courtesy of Abu Komeh’s decisive goal. Mohamadu Lamin’s well-delivered cross set up the winning strike, which has moved the three-time champions, Bo Rangers within one point of league leaders Star Sports Academy.
Bhantal FC pushed hard but couldn’t breach Bo Rangers’ defense, thanks to outstanding goalkeeping from young Noah Kamara. The visitors had several chances, but the home side held firm to secure all three points. The match was a repeat of their first league meeting, which ended goalless.
Bhantal FC, led by former Bo Rangers defender Yemi Dunia and Head Coach John Dominic Konneh, were eager to make an impact against their former club, but it wasn’t their day. Bo Rangers will now look to build on this momentum against Freetown City FC on Saturday, as they continue to challenge for the league title.
