The Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) joined partners and young innovators for the 2025 D3 Moon Landing: Developers Challenge and Demo Day.
Developed by KNESST, with sponsorship from DSTI and UNICEF Sierra Leone, the event brought together developers, founders, students, and tech enthusiasts for a day of creativity and problem-solving.
Young innovators pitched bold ideas across areas such as AI, FinTech, Open Innovation, and Women in Tech. Sixteen teams presented solutions designed to address real challenges in their communities. The atmosphere was charged with creativity, energy, and a shared belief that Sierra Leone’s young people are defining the country’s digital future.
DSTI showcased a short video unveiling some of its newly introduced digital products, giving attendees an inside look at tools already improving public services nationwide. The DSTI team also engaged with participants, encouraging them to continue building with curiosity, confidence, and purpose.
Initiatives like this create opportunities for young Sierra Leoneans to learn new skills, test their ideas, and enter the technology ecosystem with direction and ambition. Many past participants have gone on to launch startups, secure partnerships, and mentor other young innovators demonstrating that the impact extends far beyond Demo Day.
The winning teams will now advance to the D3 Incubation Programme, where they will receive mentorship, technical support, and funding to further develop their solutions.
