Driver Sentenced to One Year in Prison for Bag Theft

Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court sentenced Ibrahim Kojo Kallon, a driver, to one year imprisonment for larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to police reports, the accused stole a bag valued at Nine Hundred New Leones (Le900) belonging to Mr. Bah on Monday, 30th June 2025, in New England Ville, Freetown

When the charge was read and explained to him in court, Kallon immediately pleaded guilty.

In her ruling, Magistrate Kallon stressed that theft is a serious offence that undermines public trust and must be dealt with accordingly. She then sentenced the accused to 12 months at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.

The judgment serves as a stern warning to would-be offenders and reflects the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and community order.
