Frank Lahai Junior a commercial driver has made his first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No 1 on Pademba Road, Freetown, for damaging and stealing EDSA cables.
The accused Frank Lahai Junior is charged on 2 counts ranging from damaging supply line contrary to Section 73 of the National Electricity Act of 2022 and stealing electricity cables contrary to Section 74 of the National Electricity Act of 2011.
According to the charge sheet on count 1, the accused Frank Lahai Junior on Wednesday 28th December 2022, at Campbell Street, Waterloo did damage Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) supply line, property of the government of Sierra Leone.
Count 2 state that the accused on the same date and place did steal quantity of Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) cables, trunk line cables, property of the government of Sierra Leone.
The charge was read and explained to the accused person and he pleaded not guilty
The accused was unrepresented.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional center in Freetown.
The matter was adjourned to the 30th January 2023 for further hearing.
