Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security (PI-CREF), has reaffirmed his commitment to fostering bipartisan collaboration in advancing Sierra Leone’s energy agenda on Wednesday, 22 October 2025 at Bintumani International Conference Centre.
On the sidelines of the ongoing Accelerated Partnership for Renewables in Africa (APRA) Investment Forum, Dr. Yumkella engaged in productive discussions with the leadership of the All Political Parties Association (APPA). The talks focused on strengthening cross-party cooperation to drive energy development and safeguard the country’s national energy infrastructure.
Dr. Yumkella expressed his gratitude to the APPA leadership for their active participation in both the Climate Resilience and Energy Transition (CRET 2025) Dialogue and the ongoing APRA Forum. He highlighted that their involvement demonstrates a growing recognition of energy as a national priority, transcending political divisions.
He urged the political leaders to bring the outcomes of these high-level dialogues back to their respective parties and advocate for the protection of critical energy infrastructure nationwide. “Energy cuts across party lines,” he stated. “We must all do our part to protect and expand our energy infrastructure for the benefit of every Sierra Leonean.”
In response, the APPA leadership commended Dr. Yumkella for his inclusive and visionary leadership, which has fostered collaboration between government institutions and political actors. They praised his efforts to engage political parties as key stakeholders in finding sustainable solutions to Sierra Leone’s energy challenges.
The association further pledged to work closely with PI-CREF, the Ministry of Energy, and other national bodies to advance energy development and protect critical infrastructure from vandalism and misuse.
Dr. Yumkella’s outreach to the APPA reinforces his broader mission of uniting all sectors including political, private, media, and civil society behind a shared goal: achieving sustainable energy security and resilience for Sierra Leone.
