Dr. Bernadette S. Kamara Represents Sierra Leone at United Nations High-Level Political Forum

In a significant contribution to global sustainable development efforts, Dr. Bernadette Sanko Kamara is representing Sierra Leone at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2025. The forum, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), focuses on advancing sustainable development solutions rooted in scientific and evidence-based approaches.

The theme for this year’s HLPF is “Advancing Sustainable, Inclusive, Science- and Evidence-Based Solutions for the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, Leaving No One Behind.”

Dr. Kamara has emerged as a key participant, actively contributing to initiatives aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Her engagement elevates Sierra Leone’s strategic presence at this forum, which gathers representatives from thirty-seven nations.

The 2025 HLPF prioritizes the use of empirical, data-driven methodologies to address critical global challenges such as climate change, social inequality, and economic volatility. The forum is conducting an in-depth review of progress on key SDGs including: Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, Goal 5: Gender Equality

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal 14: Life Below Water and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

 

Comprising a diverse cohort of experts from government officials and UN bodies to academia and civil society  Dr. Kamara has demonstrated her capacity to effectively represent Sierra Leone and contribute meaningfully to global sustainable development discussions.
