Godfrey Hanciles staff of Don Bosco who also doubles as an assistant to one of the Catholic Father has on the 5 August 2021, dragged to court by a medical practitioner, Dr. Osman Sankoh attached at Connaught hospital in Freetown, for assaulting him.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Court No. 6 Pademba road Freetown on two counts of assault occasioning actually bodily harm Contrary to Section 47 of the offences against the person act 1861 and public insult and provocation contrary to Section 3 (1) of the Public Order Act of No. 46 of 1965.
According to the Police charge sheet on count 1, the accused Godfrey Hanciles, on Monday 10 May 2021, at Orthodox Mission Compound, A. J Momoh Street, Tower Hill, the Western Area in Freetown, assaulted Osman Sankoh in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm. Count 2 states that, the accused Godfrey Hanciles on the same date and place, in public and in the presence of Doctor Osman Sankoh, did use certain insulting words against the said doctor Osman Sankoh in order to provoke him to commit a breach of the peace.
Magistrate Gogra given out his ruling granted the accused person bail in the sum of ten million Leones two sureties in like sum sureties must be gainfully employed and must present valid identification card to be approved by the DAR. Sergeant 11406 Kpulum M is Prosecuting and matter has been adjourned to the 12 August 2021.
