The Coordinator of the Kono District DICOVERC appeals to all paramount chiefs not to allow any form of entertainment in their respective chiefdoms as Government has put a stay order on all forms of gathering or entertainment in the country amidst the Covid-19.
Reverend Ambassador Sahr Samuel Sam disclosed this to our reporter during a day stakeholders engagement with the 14 paramount chiefs, traders union chairman, bike riders union chairman, civil society, INGO and the NGO representatives including the Resident Minister East who also doubles as the Eastern Region Covid-19 Coordinator at the DICOVERC office, Riber Hotel in Koidu City – Kono District.
Early in his statement, Reverend Sahr Samuel Sam outlined challenges they are faced with, in executing their functions as frontline workers against the Covid-19. Some of the challenges included lack of running cost of generator, mobility, especially inadequate vehicles, among other logistical gaps.
On a related development, Reverend Samuel Sam pleaded with the Resident Minister East who also doubles as the Eastern Region Covid-19 Coordinator to talk to his colleagues’ ministers for the payment of backlog of some DICOVERC staff, who have worked for some time without salary, describing it as a huge challenge to their operations.
