Victims of the flood disasters in Bo that happened 21 September, 2021 at Kandeh town community in Bo have expressed their total disappointment and frustration over the negligence meted out to them by the Disaster Management Agency stakeholders in Bo for not coming to their aid since the disaster took place.
Speaking to A-Z Newspaper in a tearful mood, Joan Dickson a student of Njala University said that she was largely affected by the flood because her study materials were destroyed by the floods.
He said that some stakeholders came and their plight was explained, they promised to help but to no avail.
Kadiatu Jah a suckling mother with three children said that they are barely living on Gari (dry substance produce from cassava), and the school materials including the books destroy by the rain.
“I have put the soaked things including the local mattress in the sun but they are very difficult to get dried. My children sleep on the bare floor,” she claims.
She called on stakeholders who flooded the scene and promised to help them to fulfill it.
James Lahai and other flood victim said that he is afraid of settling in the area because there is likelihood that flooding will take place again because of the swampy areas but he further called on the government to help relocate him before the situation worsens.
Some of the stakeholders who visited the flooding site and promised the victims said they have not forgotten about them as they are strategizing on how to help them.
A-Z newspaper further learnt that the victims are running out of patience to wait for the promises to be fulfilled as they are badly in need of support.
