The Executive Director of the National Centre for Human Rights and Development (NaCfoHRD), Dr. James Mathew has commending the Bio led administration for the strides in fighting corruption in the country. He is also imploring the current ACC boss Ben Kelfala and his team to continue the good job noting that the commission should be free from bias in the course of dispensing their mandates-tackling corruption in the country.

“The fight against corruption should be devoid of whether it involves Mr. A or Mr. Y, there should be no sacred cow,” he said.

Dr. Mathew pointed out that another success story of the Bio’ led administration so far in three years’ time, is infrastructural development. He said the president had launched lots of infrastructural projects which when completed would represent evidence of service delivery.

Looking at the Free Quality Education, Dr. Mathew said though there are varied opinions about it from different quarters, but they at the National Centre for Human Rights and Development appreciate the initiative, noting that at least it has led to an exponential increase in the enrollment of pupils to pre- primary, primary, junior and senior secondary schools in all government and government assisted schools across the country.

“We have seen the number of Pupils enrolled to government and government assisted schools as a direct result of the Free Quality Education,” he said.

Dr. Mathew however, pointed out that there are still huge challenges in the proper implementation of the Free Quality Education scheme.

On the state of the country’s economy, three years on, the Executive Director of the National Centre for Human Rights and Development outrightly called on the Minister of Finance to do more in ameliorating the economic hardship.

The Finance Minister had however been responding to these issues by alluding to their investment in cash stimulus for all regions under the MUNAFA Loan scheme, granting tax holidays to cushion the COVID 19 effect for small medium business to maintain the supply chain, keep inflation in check and ensure regular payment of salaries, including increased revenue among other bread and butter projects underway from different sectors.
