The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbour Authority (SLPHA) has seen significant improvements in recent years, thanks to the strong leadership of its Director General, Mr. Yankuba Bio. His focus on transparency, discipline, and teamwork has played a pivotal role in restoring confidence and efficiency at the country’s ports.
When Mr. Bio assumed office, the Ports Authority faced numerous challenges, including poor infrastructure and weak management systems. However, through his commitment and reforms, the institution is now more organized, secure, and aligned with international standards.
Under his leadership, Mr. Bio has fostered strong working relationships with both local and international partners, enhancing collaboration with shipping companies, customs, and regional maritime organizations to ensure the smooth and transparent flow of trade. His efforts have also bolstered cooperation with security agencies to combat drug trafficking through the ports.
Despite facing economic challenges and rising operational costs, Mr. Yankuba Bio continues to pursue excellence. His achievements have earned him widespread praise, including from Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, who recently commended him for his outstanding performance and integrity.
Dr. Sengeh noted that, despite the circulation of false information about the Ports Authority, the facts clearly demonstrate substantial progress. He highlighted that Mr. Bio’s leadership has brought much-needed stability and improved accountability within the system.
