Mrs. Kadiatu Allie, Deputy Minister of Finance I, is representing Sierra Leone as part of the country’s official delegation to the 2025 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, currently underway at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Tuesday 22nd July 2025.

The forum, held annually under the auspices of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), runs for eight days and includes a three-day ministerial segment. The HLPF serves as the central global platform for reviewing progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The HLPF brings together a wide range of participants, including: Government ministers and high-level representatives, heads of UN agencies and international organizations, civil society groups and major stakeholders, academics and development experts.

Discussions at the 2025 HLPF focus on accelerating action toward achieving the SDGs in the context of ongoing global challenges, including climate change, economic recovery, and digital transformation.

On the margins of the forum, Deputy Minister Allie is scheduled to participate in a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings with development partners, UN officials, and representatives from international financial institutions. These engagements aim to strengthen Sierra Leone’s partnerships on development finance, attract investment and donor support for national development priorities and showcase the government’s progress in public financial management and economic reforms

Mrs. Allie’s participation highlights Sierra Leone’s commitment to multilateralism, international cooperation, and sustainable development. It also aligns with the government’s broader efforts to enhance fiscal transparency, mobilize domestic and external resources, and achieve the goals outlined in the country’s Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP).

Sierra Leone’s presence at the HLPF underscores its active role in the global sustainable development dialogue and its readiness to collaborate with international partners to deliver meaningful change at the national and community levels.

The forum concludes with a ministerial declaration that reaffirms the collective commitment of member states to accelerating SDG implementation and building resilient, inclusive economies worldwide.
