The Deputy Director of Education in Kono District has declared zone tolerance on examination malpractices in the district. Prince Ngebeh made the pronouncement in an interview with our correspondent owing to the commencement of this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the district and nationwide.
He maintained that the exams are going on at twenty four (24) Centers in the district, noting before now Kono district only had fewer centers but due to the demand to have more to ease the walking district on the candidates, the ministry of education has no option but to add to the present number of examination Centers in the district.
Talking about the monitoring mechanism to effect the said zero tolerance on examination malpractices in the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination in the district it was discussed in a meeting held in his office that education officers are to strictly monitor the pupils at the various examination centers to avoid examination malpractices. He thanked the task force for examination malpractice in the district.
According to him the late arrival of question papers at the centers by the west Africa Examination Council (WAEC) due to the high number of centers in the district coupled with the non-availability of the names of certain candidates are among the challenges the Ministry of Education is faced with in the ongoing (BECE) Examination.
Whilst pleading with candidates to write to their exams as plans are underway by the ministry to have a consultation meeting with those concerns on the issue and wished the pupils to work hard to succeed.
