The Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Augustine Foday Ngobie has on the 22nd September, 2021 paid a courtesy call on the Resident Minister South, Mohamed E.K Allie at his Tikonko Road office in Bo. The ACC Deputy Commissioner also used the occasion to introduce the new Regional Manager of the ACC in the South.
Welcoming the Deputy Commissioner of the ACC and his team, Mr. Allie said he was honored to have Mr. Augustine Foday Ngobie in his office.
He expressed delight at the exemplary work that the ACC is doing to fight corruption in Sierra Leone.
The Resident Minister, South, commended the outgoing manager for his diligence to duty and welcomed the newly transferred manager of the ACC to the Southern Region.
He assured the ACC of government’s commitment to fight corruption in the country.
Responding, the Deputy Commissioner of the ACC said the purpose of their visit was to express gratitude to the Resident Minister for given them a warm reception.
Mr. Ngobie also said the main purpose of visiting the Resident Minister, was to introduce the newly-appointed ACC Manager of the Southern Region Mr. Momodu Sitta.
He disclosed the ACC recognizes the role the people are playing in the fight against Corruption and acknowledged that the ACC cannot perform well without involving people in its activities.
“Any time we make any change like transferring our officials, we will let the public to know,” The Deputy Commissioner of the ACC reiterated.
Mr. Augustine Foday Ngobie stated that the outgoing manager Mr. Musa Jarawa served the South for Eight (8) years as manager, and that the ACC was very pleased with the report and commendation of Mr. Jawara.
He informed they have decided to transfer Mr. Jawara to work at the national level in order for him to get more experience.
He informed that the new regional manager is not coming to manage the office only but to also work with the people.
Deputy Commissioner Ngobie also informed the ACC’s fight against corruption has many approaches and it is not only limited in persecuting corrupt officials but to educate the public about the dangers of corruption, prevention of corruption, among others.
The ACC deputy commissioner said that what they have achieved in three (3) years has never happened since the ACC was set up in Sierra Leone over fifteen years ago.
He appealed to public officials to help promote and support the ACC to succeed for a better Sierra Leone.
The Resident Minister South is the political head of the region. One of his roles in the region is to actualize the vision of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio to make the region corrupt-free.
Officials of the ACC and Provincial Secretary’s office attended the ceremony.
