Dr. Philip John Kanu, Vice Chancellor and Principal of Milton Magai Technical University, is currently involved in a legal battle with his lecturer, Tejan Sheik Rogers, who is accused of cyberbullying him. Rogers has been charged with cyberstalking, contrary to Section 44 (2)(b) of the Cyber Security and Crime Act of 2001.

The police allege that Tejan Sheik Rogers, between November 1 and November 31, 2022, used his WhatsApp number to create and post recorded audios and text messages targeting Dr. Philip John Kanu. These posts were made in a WhatsApp group called “Maada Must Stay Campaign” and were intended to harass Kanu, causing cyberbullying and potentially damaging his character.

At the hearing, the accused, Lecturer Tejan Sheik Rogers, was present in court. The prosecutor, CSP Joan Bull, informed the court that the prosecution had concluded its case. In response, defense counsel Tejan Barrie requested a short adjournment for the defense to present their case, which was granted by Magistrate Bangura.

The matter was adjourned to March 14, 2025, for Lecturer Tejan Sheik Rogers to open his defense.
