Former West Bromwich and Derby Centre back Curtis Davis is set to make debut today for Sierra Leone Senior National team Leone Stars in a crunch match against Somalia in the International friendly match in Morocco.
Curtis Davis is optimistic his twenty years professional Football will help Sierra Leone National team as he joins new international teammates.
Davis 38 is presently playing for League one side Cheltenham Town and has arrived for Leone Stars camp in Morocco for the friendly match against Somalia on 17th.
38 years old is in his twilight of his career, but his professional know-how can help nurture his new international teammates. He has played over 500 professional matches for various clubs such as, Birmingham, Aston villa, West Bromwich, Hull City and Derby County. The technical team is optimistic that he will make use of those experiences and share it with his team mates.
Ibrahim Kamara head of Media and Marketing of Sierra Leone Football Association said the try B match is for players whose documentations are currently under review and need to be prepared ahead of the next matches in the Africa World Cup campaign qualifiers, noting that must of those players are will be part of Leone Stars squad.
He confirmed that most of the other players who will not play the two international Friendlies are hopeful of being part in the next month Africa World Cup campaign when Leone Stars will have to take on Ethiopia away from home in their first match. He noted that the Technical Team has learnt a lot from the match against Benin by giving opportunities to new players who have are yet to play for the National team.
In another development, Leone Stars settle to a one all draw (1-1) against the Squirrels of Benin in an International FIFA sanction match. The Leone Stars of Sierra Leone took the lead in first half of play as inform striker Mohamed Buya Turay converted a one -one touch and slot the ball back of net to give the lead to Leone Stars, but the lead held on to the second half in the injury time at the 98 of minutes play Benin got the equalizing goal through the left hand flank and the Benin player buried the ball back of the net to level the score.
