The Consortium of Civil Societies on Accountability and Good Governance, in a joint press statement issued on 25th of July 2022, vehemently condemn a malicious and ill-gotten tribal statement made by the 2018 Presidential Flag bearer for the All People Congress Party Samura Kamara against the Mende Tribe.
The Press Statement further discloses that the Consortium of Civil Societies on Accountability and Good Governance Sierra Leone (CCSAGGSL) is disturbed by the statements made by Dr Samura Kamara, who happens to be a flag bearer aspirant for the All-People’s Congress (APC), on a video which has gone viral on social media where he made heinous tribal comments directed at the Mende ethnic group.
As an aspiring leader, the CCSAGGSL has made a clarion call on Dr Samura Kamara to tender a public apology to the people of Sierra Leone for his unthoughtful statements as it is uncalled for and unacceptable to the people of Sierra Leone.
As an educated person, the press statement reminds Dr. Samura Kamara that he ought to know better than to even think of uttering such statements. The Press Statement adds that Sierra Leone belongs to everybody, not one tribe or one region.
The press release concludes by also calling on the public to frown at people, be it a politician that there is no place for tribalism in the nation.
