Magistrate Adama Kandeh of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 4 has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of an accused person who failed to appear in court to respond to charges brought against him.
The accused, Yusif, is facing two charges of threatening language, contrary to Section 3(ii) of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965; and Calling a person by a name other than his/her own, contrary to Section 3(iv) of the same Act.
According to police allegations, between 20th March and 25th August 2025, at Main Road, Goderich, Freetown, the accused used threatening language against complainants Dura Bangura and Victoria F. Bangura. He reportedly said “Ar go kill u n u uman for natin” and “Ar go burn u motor bike,” the statements intended to provoke a breach of the peace.
On the second count, Yusif is alleged to have called Dura Bangura a “Tif man” at the same location and date, also with the intent to provoke and disturb the peace.
When the matter was called in court, the accused was absent. In response, prosecuting counsel M. Bayoh Esq. applied for a bench warrant under Section 25(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 6 of 2024.
After considering the application, Magistrate Kandeh granted the request and issued a bench warrant for the immediate arrest of the accused.
The matter has been adjourned to 3rd October 2025.
