Jacob Julius Renner has been remanded in custody as Magistrate Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 prepares to deliver a ruling in a case involving three counts of wounding and assault, contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Brookfields in Freetown, the accused allegedly wounded and maliciously assaulted* one Julius Bangura, inflicting actual bodily harm.

Detective Inspector Alusine Kargbo of the Youth Building Police Post testified that the incident was reported on the same day by the complainant. He issued a medical request and report form, which was later submitted in court as Exhibits B1–4.

He further testified that on January 23, 2025, he obtained a formal statement from the complainant. Subsequently, on March 27, 2025, he and a colleague, Edna Katta, cautioned and questioned the accused. The statement was originally taken in Krio, translated into English, and confirmed by Renner through his thumbprint. This statement was tendered in court as Exhibits D1–2.

The accused was formally charged on July 28, 2025.

Prosecutor 9939 Lahia M. informed the court that two more witnesses are expected to testify and that the prosecution also plans to tender a photograph of the accused.

The matter was adjourned to July 30, 2025, for ruling.
