The Tengbewabu community recently concluded a crucial meeting with the local units’ commander in Bo East. Gathering at Bo East, community elders convened to strategize the formation of a community safety volunteer group. Rafa Jones, the LPPB chairman of the East, emphasized the imperative to curb violence and foster peace, underlining the community’s responsibility.

Addressing the assembly, Johns emphasized that the community safety volunteers, without adopting vigilante attributes or security uniforms, should work collaboratively for the collective good and maintain gender sensitivity. Furthermore, he stressed the need for community support to ensure the smooth functioning of this safety initiative.

The secretary of the LPPB highlighted the essential qualities—commitment, familiarity, and community roots—expected of the safety volunteers, reinforcing their integral ties to the community. Madam Barnadette Sia Sandy, the local units’ commander, affirmed the cooperative relationship between LPPB and the populace, urging collective commitment to sustain the initiative.

The community was urged to refrain from obstructing roads to enable police patrols and to share critical information with law enforcement for enhanced community safety. The community chief echoed the sentiments expressed by the speakers, emphasizing the imperative of effective community management. Alhaji Janneh, the youth representative, pledged the youth’s commitment to the cause, promising an active role in reshaping community safety. He assured that the elders could rest assured, as the youth would vigilantly ensure the community’s well-being.

The dialogue emphasized a united community effort toward safety and peace, setting the stage for a proactive approach to address challenges and foster a secure environment for all.
