As Sierra Leone commemorates its 63rd Independence Day, efforts to combat drug abuse receive a significant boost in Bo City as the Pioneering Initiative for Rehabilitation of Substance Use Dynamics (PIRSUD-SL) collaborates with the Sierra Leone Police. Under the leadership of Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mr. Brima Kanneh, this partnership aims to address substance abuse, particularly Kush addiction.

Led by Madam Isata B. M. Kallon, PIRSUD-SL is intensifying its collaboration with AIG Kanneh’s team to provide essential support and resources to individuals struggling with addiction. Through community outreach, educational campaigns, and treatment services, PIRSUD-SL is actively working to prevent and address addiction issues in the region.

A poignant testimony highlights the impact of PIRSUD-SL’s programs, as a 15-year-old Kush addict shares their journey to recovery, underscoring the support received through the initiative. This heartfelt narrative resonates with parents and community members, illustrating the tangible difference being made in the lives of those affected by addiction.

Inspector Francess Blake, Regional Coordinator of the Community Relations Department South, lauds PIRSUD-SL’s commitment to fostering a drug-free environment and applauds their partnership with law enforcement in combating the proliferation of illegal substances. Stressing the significance of collective action, Inspector Blake emphasizes community engagement in nurturing a safer and healthier society, devoid of the scourge of drug abuse.
