Liberian international football coach Reo TIKITAKA Nyanti has successfully completed a week-long expert training session for the players of Fredo FC at the Approved School Playing Field in Sierra Leone.

Coach Nyanti’s mission was to introduce Fredo FC players to the latest trends and techniques in global football. During his sessions, he assessed the players’ technical skills and understanding of the game’s nuances. His focus was on evaluating their performance in match situations and how well they adapted to different challenges, especially as the club aims to recruit additional players who align with its philosophy.

In his assessment of Sierra Leonean players, Coach Nyanti highlighted that while the game is often played at a high intensity, there is a tendency to prioritize physicality over ball possession. He emphasized that modern football places a premium on maintaining possession and that players should focus more on effective ball control, rather than engaging in overly aggressive play.

Regarding ball possession, Coach Nyanti advised Fredo FC’s coaching staff to encourage players to be more strategic in their play. He pointed out that possessing the ball should be a means to create goal-scoring opportunities an area he identified as needing improvement within the club.

Despite the short training period, Coach Nyanti identified 11 potential players who could significantly contribute to the club’s future success. He recommended that Fredo FC focus on scouting younger players, particularly those aged 8 to 14 in rural areas, to nurture talent early and ensure a sustainable pipeline for replacing older players as they move on.

He encouraged the club to engage in more friendly matches, as these would provide valuable experience and further develop the players. Additionally, he urged Fredo FC to work more closely with the Football Association to maximize their impact in Sierra Leone’s football ecosystem.
