The Proprietor and the Executive Director of Classic Media Empire (CEM), Jibao Steven Coomber has disclosed that gadgets for Classic Television have arrived in Bo and that before the end of the year the TV will be on air.
Speaking to A-Z Newspaper at his CME office in Bo, Mr. Comber said that he wants to be grateful to God for the safe arrival of the gadgets in Bo and that he is now working on trying to secure a license and other relevant documents from the Independent Media Commission and NATCOM as required by law.
Mr. Coomber said that he wants to contribute meaningfully towards nation building by making a positive and desirable change in the media landscape and the country as a whole. The CME is currently running a radio station based in Bo called Classic Radio 99.7FM, which was established on 1st April 2020 and that they will be celebrating the second year anniversary of the Radio this year. Currently most of the programs done on the Radio are broadcast live on the online Television with large following.
Mr. Comber said that he has the passion to fill the gap in the media landscape in terms of information flow to the public from the government and to the Government from the Public, adding that as a Sierra Leonean he has the compassion to contribute to national development through information, entertainment and education.
He noted that the establishment of CME came as a result of the need to have a civic empowerment Program to promote greater and active participation in decision making and raising the voices of citizens on the democratic governance of Sierra Leone.
Mr Coomber said this should be done through the Newspaper, Radio and Television programs in active partnership with the faith institutions, civil Society organizations and the other media institutions for the citizens to demand political accountability from elected representatives.
“Meanwhile, plans are also under way to establish a Newspaper under the Classic Media Empire,’’ he said.
The Classic Media Empire he said is committed to enhancing the active participation of citizenry in bringing about knowledge on just and accountable governance including service delivery and right-holders demanding accountability from duty bearers, as according to him broadcasting is done to achieve sustainable development.
Mr. Comber said that the mission of Classic Media Empire is to guard democracy, campaign for peace, good governance and socio-cultural development in Sierra Leone and the Vision is to empower their audiences to make an inform decision to stand and protect their rights within the ambit of the law.
He said that he has a dedicated staff working for the Radio who are working within the IMC Code of Practice and more staff will be recruited to work for the Classic Television.
He called on the public to do business with the Radio and Classic TV to enhance sustainability of the running of the Empire.
