The National Coordinator of the Sierra Leone Civil Society Youth Forum (SLeCSYF), Madam Rassie Bah has said they are determined to change the lives of youths in the country.
According to Madam Bah, SLeCSYF is a Network/Coalition of Youth led and Youth focused Civil Society Platform with the aim of serving as the coordinating pillar/body for all youth activities and the pillar voice for the voiceless, marginalized and vulnerable Youth in the Society and the Country as a whole.
“We are determined to promote youth-driven development in Sierra Leone as CSO Network/Coalition, we envisaged to diligently and judiciously harness the resources of the member associations, donors in order to foster and sustain development. It is a non-profit making, Youth-oriented and non-partisan character. It shall equally promote Education,’ Peace and Justice, Health, Human Rights and the conservation of the environment,” Madam Bah said.
In addition she said: “we are determined to build the capacities of youth development associations/organizations to enhance the realization of their goals, through seminars, workshops, conferences; collaborating with and seeking assistance from funding bodies for its activities and those of its member associations, work in close relationship with Ministry of Youth Affairs, Youth Commission, and all other relevant Ministries including both the City and District Councils on Youth Empowerment issues and development of the society, Fostering peace, justice, handwork, patriotism, conservation of the environment and other positive social values through the activities of its member associations; identifying priority National Youth Development issues through active research and consultations and seeking to redress them and Creating awareness on the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).’’
She called on local and international organizations to support the Civil Society Youths to transform the minds of the youths in order to be productive in contributing to nation building.
