Citizen Forum for Democratic Accountability (C4D) on the 24th August, 2021, launched its civic education project in Freetown. The official launch of C4D is accompanied with a civic education project initiative with the theme “Engaging Public Institutions and Citizens to cultivate the ideals of Democratic Accountability”.
The founder and Executive Director Mr. Marcus Bangura in his opening statement gave a brief history about the organization, thereby stating its mission, vision and objectives and declaration of purpose of the launch.
(C4D) citizen’s forum for democratic accountability is an independent, impartial, non-political and not for profit organization with the mandate to pursue charitable purposes in general and more specifically strengthening the ideals of democracy and accountability, good governance, human rights, rule of law, elections, effective service delivery, social and economic justice, gender equality, internet freedom, and private data protection, environmental and natural resources, education, psychosocial, and studies, reporting, monitoring and evaluation, training and capacity development.
Mr. Marcus Bangura declared the purpose of the launch with its project phase.
Phase 1 which is the civic education project will focus on “Nurturing the ideals of democratic accountability in the minds of ongoing school pupils” with its objective “Catch them Young as Society and the present Generation has failed for lack of Accountability.
The said project will last for four months starting September 2021 within the municipality of Freetown. The project will run simultaneously with a participation research where pupils will give account about themselves on accountability issues in their adolescent stage telling their stories, whilst phase 2 will focus on public institutions on service delivery.
Mr. Alhassan Kargbo who is the key note speaker at the launch in an elated mood congratulated Mr. Marcus Bangura for the launch of the organization. He gave a brief statement of the relationship with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Marcus Bangura.
He spoke on accountability and transparency on which the C4D`s pivotal foundation stands. He said the media is the voice for accountability and transparency in any organized politicized country and C4D holds such impeccable grip as its commitment towards good governance.
The program ended with a vote of thanks speech and words of support and encouragement towards this new development.
