Information reaching this medium is that at least nine thieves have been arrested by Police Officers in Makeni district during a night patrol conducted on 13th June 2022.
Chief Inspector of Police Abdulrahman Sankoh, Media Officer attached to the North East Region said the nine thieves were arrested at different places within the municipality of Makeni during their normal night Police patrols.
He added that one of the personnel Police Constable 20006 Mansaray Sahieu who was deployed at the community service Centre Menah Police Station who was also part of the said night. The police patrol team said he heard a strange sound at a distance where he pointed the light and noticed some thieves we’re breaking into a nearby Church.
The North East Region Police Media Officer pointed out that a heavy fight ensued between the thieves that were breaking into the nearby Church and Police constable 20006 Mansaray Sahieu who later arrested one of them and called for reinforcement. He said the intervention of another Police officer PC. 19251 Anthony Laka Koroma who owned a gun saw the arrest of another eight thieves with a motorbike with registration number ASA -844 which the thieves used to transport the stolen items believed to be the property of a resident of Rogbaneh road in Makeni, Ibrahim Mansaray.
“Our Major challenge securing and making Makeni and its immediate environs a free crime zone especially theft at night is the lodging of thieves by some community people without informing the police”, he said.
Meanwhile, the thieves arrested are helping the Police with the investigation.
