Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson has issued remarks on the release of the white paper titled “Controlling Fentanyl-Related Substances China’s Contribution” by the State Council Information Office. The document provides an authoritative review of China’s significant efforts and innovative steps in controlling fentanyl-related substances.
The white paper highlights several key aspects of China’s approach to addressing the fentanyl issue: ensuring supervision over fentanyl-related medications, taking strong action against fentanyl-related crimes, enforcing strict controls over precursors of fentanyl-related substances, advancing technology research, development, and application, adopting comprehensive measures for more efficient drug control, and promoting global governance of fentanyl-related substances.
The white paper aims to give people from various sectors and the international community a clear, comprehensive, and objective understanding of China’s position, measures, and achievements in this area.
China views the fight against fentanyl-related substances as part of its broader vision for a community with a shared future for mankind. The country has consistently fulfilled its international obligations in drug control and engaged deeply in international counter-narcotics efforts. China remains committed to advancing global drug control governance and working with other nations to jointly address the challenges posed by fentanyl.
The spokesperson emphasised that the facts of China’s efforts speak louder than words. However, the U.S. has spread false information about China’s role in the fentanyl issue, unfairly blaming China and imposing tariffs on Chinese imports over the matter. The spokesperson condemned these actions as unjustified, stating that such moves benefit no one.
China’s position is clear: the country is ready to cooperate with the U.S. based on equality and mutual respect. At the same time, China firmly opposes any U.S. pressure, threats, or blackmail related to the fentanyl issue. The spokesperson urged the U.S. to respect the facts, consider its own interests, and make the right decision.
