The Child Reintegration Centre (CRC) successfully concluded a two-day family strengthening engagement on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the CRC Hall in Kulanda Town Section, Bo City. The initiative aimed at equipping families with essential parenting skills and fostering healthier relationships between children and their caregivers.
The engagement brought together 16 families six from Kenema and ten from Bo comprising both children and their parents or guardians. Throughout the sessions, participants were guided through key topics, including effective parenting strategies, attachment theory, financial literacy, communication skills, and conflict resolution. These discussions were designed to promote emotional well-being and improve family dynamics.
Speaking at the event, George Kulanda, Case Management Supervisor at CRC, underscored the importance of building strong, supportive family units where children feel secure enough to share their challenges and emotions with their caregivers. He reaffirmed CRC’s commitment to empowering families, noting that similar engagements have been held in various regions nationwide as part of an ongoing annual initiative.
Kulanda further revealed that the program is funded by Helping Children Worldwide, a U.S.-based organisation dedicated to supporting child welfare initiatives. He urged participants to apply the knowledge gained as they return to their respective communities, emphasising that sustained parental involvement is crucial to the long-term success of child reintegration efforts.
The CRC remains committed to strengthening families and fostering environments where children can thrive, ensuring a brighter future for vulnerable communities across the country.
