Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh has in a government weekly press conference organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, highlighted government’s commitment for 2025.
He said the President Bio-led administration is committed to delivery as the annual performance play a significant path towards achieving service delivery across all sector.
Chief Minister underscored that Bold Action serves as a status quo to harnessing action that aim to gender based violence and that it also means that every action that they are taking they are taking it for every kid.
Sengeh added that they would continue to spread their bold action to innovation and communication, and also said they had increased internet connectivity to Sierra Leoneans and they had also brought Starlink to help expand with internet connectivity.
He also noted that their priority this 2025 is to make sure that nobody is left behind and that is why they had taken the bold action to reduce the price of rice per bag, as well as working on price formula on all major commodities.
Sengeh reflected on 2024 in which he said was a successful year for the government especially the Civic Festival which brought together all ministries and agencies department to participate in national development. He stated that in 2024, there were more investments in Sierra Leone. Stating that the cement factory was launched, plywood factory was also launched, iron rod and Amanita petroleum depot.
‘’A commitment of over one billion dollars came to Sierra Leone last year and the one billion is not in our pocket. We are going to use part of one billion which is the MMC grants to solve our energy problem,’’ Chief Minister added.
Chief Minister explained that European Union supported Sierra Leone directly with 90m euro grant; including World Bank that gave budget support to Sierra Leone and the stabilization of forex. He commented that inflation has dropped and purchasing power has also increased with rapid improvement in the micro economy.
He stated that in 2024 Sierra Leone economy was stable even though there were challenges but overall, the country was peaceful and calm especially during the festive season.
Chief Minister concluded by appreciating the good work of President Bio for stabilizing the country’s economy and promoting good governance.
